Day Four: A Photograph of Your Best Friend

I have lots and lots of friends so there is no way I could possibly narrow it down to one. But, I can narrow my best friends in the whole world down to two. One is in California right now. :) The other is getting married in just a few weeks!

M is my best friend in the whole world. This girl has definitely been through more than me and is still amazing and strong. I admire her for it. She knows my whole life and has never judged me for it. I know that if I ever need anything or just somebody to talk to I can always call her. She is amazing and beautiful and her fiance is one lucky man! I love her to death!

So, I am incredibly lucky to know the handsome, young dork in the picture above. :) Right now, he is in California serving serving serving! And I couldn't be more proud of him. He is an amazing person and he makes me better. I'm lucky just to know him but to be considered his friend is truly great. He is funny, and kind, and true. He knows me for me and I'm grateful for the light he has brought, and continues to bring to my life.

Though, these two people are by far the most amazing people I know, this post just wouldn't be complete without mentioning my room mates. They are the most insane, crazy, level-headed, weird, wonderful, strong women I know. And I love them!!! They are definitely some of the greatest friends I have ever had and I hope we will be friends for a very long time. :)

Day Three: My Idea of a Perfect Date

Well, I don't have an idea of a perfect date. Not really. But it's always nice when men actually plan a date before they pick you up. I hate when guys ask me "So, what do you want to do?" it is extremely obnoxious. As far as anything else goes, I'm totally up for anything. If a guy really wants to get to know me though, he should take me to do something I haven't done and that will take me out of my comfort zone. I may pretend I don't like it or that I'm not having fun, but I am and I will love it in the end.

Day Two: A Photo of Something You Ate Today

First off, this has to be the most random post selection ever. Really? I'm pretty sure no one cares what I ate today. But, I promised myself I would do this.

My favorite place in the world (well, cheap place) to eat is Taco Bell. And that is where I went today for lunch with my awesome roomies. Quesadillas are my world, well, and Cherry Limeade, which is definitely one of the greatest treats on earth, just a small piece of heaven.

Day One: A Photo of Yourself & Description of How Your Day Was

It's not the most amazing picture ever, and my feet were actually really cold that day; I should have worn better shoes. But as a tradition every year my room mates and I go to the Block A and take a picture with a poster representing something significant in our lives for that year. This year mine was the number of days N has until he gets home from his mission. As you can see I'm excited. :) It's now 279!
So...my day. It was pretty boring. I went to Human Development and watched a fetus develop. They kind of look like little aliens. I'm going to have to forget that when I'm pregnant, otherwise I think it might freak me out just a little more than I am willing to admit. Then I came home and paid my phone bill (I forgot to do it yesterday and my phone got shut off oops). And sent my letter off to N and another to my dad. Then I went to institute. In institute we talked about the Family: A Proclamation to the World. Do you know what's cool? This graduating class (High School) is the largest my state has ever seen and next year's is supposed to be even bigger! Well, the graduating class was born in 1995. So why were so many  people having babies in 1995 and so forth? The Family: A Proclamation to the World came out in 1995! They were following commandment! I never made this connection before! How cool are righteous people? They are pretty dang cool. Anywho, that was my day. And now I am sitting next to the heater, wrapped in a blanket, typing this up when I should be doing homework. ;) Haha.

The 30 Day Challenge (Insert Girlish Squeal Here)

Alright, I know, I'm joining the masses of screaming, squeally,  school girls who do these dumb little 30 day challenges. But, I figure hey whatever, no one probably reads this and it will give me a reason to post so I can be a little better at it. o.O So here goes nothing. This one has been floating around the blogger community and I decided to give it a go. Let's see how I do.

Don't Run With Scissors, or Walk, or Stand, Maybe I Shouldn't Hold Scissors at All

So, needless to say, I had a really terrible day on Monday. Which I mean, really, it was Monday. Monday nights I have a broadcast course at the library. It's weird, I'm not used to seeing my professor projected on a television screen in front of me. And to be able to talk to the television screen is also quite odd. It will take some adjustment. This class was so long. It's two and a half hours and the professor seems to think the best method of teaching is to read directly from the text for half that time (I disagree). So after a very long class on approaching diversity I was just ready to go home. However, where I live the temperature is freezing, literally. So, I braced myself for the -12 degree weather with my hat, gloves, and coat with little thought to how cold my poor legs would be with nothing but jeans for a covering. By the time I got home I couldn't feel my legs. You could have stabbed them with a knife or better yet scissors, because oh wait! I did. Ya, not my brightest moment. I grabbed the scissors to open a package that had come in the mail only to turn around and smack into the wall allowing the scissors the perfect opportunity to attempt murder on my thigh. No worries! No Felicia's were harmed in the making of this post. However, there is a huge bruise on my leg now, to match all the pretty scars I have (a story for another day). My leg was still numb from being outside though, so I didn't really feel it until an hour later. And then it hurt. A LOT. Not to mention my losing the mail key. And we all know how the mail is my life source. Monday ended with me curled in the fetal position, on my bed, crying over a box of N's letters before falling asleep. But, the world is back to normal now, and so are my emotions. And ya know if you can't laugh about the stupid things you do in life, what can you laugh about? Besides, I learned a valuable lesson, I should probably not handle sharp objects without supervision, or at all.

Flying Objects=Broken Car

This week has not been the most pleasant week of my life. Despite that my phone decided to have a mental break down allowing me the honor of buying a new one, my car decided to bust up too. To Carlos (my car) defense his break down was not voluntary. Driving back up to school from my hometown something flew at me and poor Carlos on the freeway. Don't get me wrong I am counting my blessings that whatever it was didn't fly through my windshield and kill me, but paying the 970 dollar repair bill isn't sounding super fun. Thank goodness for "sisters" and their husbands, because without M and D I would be totally on my own and that car would never get fixed. Poor Carlos is all alone right now, probably shivering off in a corner somewhere-but even worse he has my peppermints in his jockey box. Ugh. I just can't get a break can I? ;) Anywho, my holiday was fabulous. I got a lot of cute new clothes (including the much desired red skinnies) and some nice jewelry. Including a very nice necklace from one handsome young man in Cali. He really shouldn't think of me, but I'm secretly glad he does. Oh! And over this break I learned how to ski. Now, if you know me, you know how much of an accomplishment this is. Think back to when I was a mere 13 years old. The horrifying experience I had of tubing down a hill at near 70 MPH only to come crash hurtling into a, maybe 3 feet in diameter, tree. The hospital trip there after, and the weeks of wheelchair, and the weeks after that of crutches, and the months after that of physical therapy, only to have to go back to the hospital to get all of the "gear" removed from my body. Breaking your femur=not fun, and hospitals=no privacy. So to attempt any form of winter sport involving going down a large hill is a great accomplishment for me. And to succeed at it is even greater!! But, the fact that I had fun doing it is a miracle. It was good though. Well folks I think that's all for now. Over and out. :)

Out with the Old?

I love my roommates. I love my "adopted" family. And I love my life. I am so blessed to have been born to such a wonderful and glorious dispensation. And I am so blessed to have a Heavenly Father who loves me and takes care of me everyday whether I know it or not. I know that every decision that I have made in His guidance has led me to where I am. That without the help that He has sent me I wouldn't be where I am. I wouldn't be who I am. I know that growing up and moving on is apart of life. That things change and some of those things will never be the same again. But just because I understand this, and just because I know that it is the way it is supposed to be, just because I am a better person today than I was yesterday, doesn't make it easy. Sometimes, I think, it makes it harder. I miss old friends. I miss my family. Sometimes, I even miss my life. I know none of those things will ever be the same for me ever again, and that hurts. Occasionally, I feel like I had this whole other identity that I left behind when I moved in with my "sister." I became something else. I was given a fork in the road and told to pick a direction. Though, I know who I am is better than who I was, I still sometimes miss that know-it-all, snarky, stubborn, wise-crack who never backed down to anyone. I am different. Every once in a while I feel like I'm not even really me. I have this whole life, this whole persona, that my biological family will never understand, will never know. Part of me hurts that I will never have the opportunity to be close to them again. The other  part hurts because they don't care enough to want to be that close. I know that I am who I am for a reason. I chose the road that I chose for a reason. Heavenly Father has a plan for me. He knows me. He loves me. And He will always lead me right. I do trust Him. Sometimes it is just harder than others.

My "Worthwhile" Time

It's finals week! For college students this means that A) we may finally get some sleep B) we should probably study more than we actually do and C) we aren't getting out of bed until it is absolutely necessary. Which is why I have spent the last four hours lying in bed writing an extra credit paper and watching episodes of Merlin. Time well spent? Oh, yes. However, I have recently come to the realization that despite it being finals week the rest of the world is continuing on as though unaffected. How odd, I know. Therefore as a last chance to pretend I'm actually doing something on the internet instead of just lying in bed unproductively (I mean, really? Would I ever do that?) I am writing on blogger. Unfortunately, I have nothing more of substance to say to you. I am now off to explore the world I have ignored this semester. Wish me luck!
